A great short story. It only took me about an hour and a half to read, but I loved it. Ranks near the top for me for stories in the Ender universe.

I couldn't wait to read more of Lawhead's work after I finished the Pendragon Cycle series. This first book of the King Raven trilogy didn't disappoint. I read it in two days. Lawhead's long studies of British history and lore allows him to merge the two so seamlessly as to occasionally make me forget that I'm reading a work of fiction.

Relatively new to Tarot, I wanted something more informative than the not-so-helpful little booklets that come with most Tarot decks. The owner of a local shop recommended this book to me, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Pollack has years of Tarot experience under her belt, a very down-to-earth grasp of Tarot's history, and a wealth of Tarot information from many sources. She has a knack for engaging the reader; she constantly prompts the reader to meditate on and interpret symbolism for themselves, and she offers a wide range of suggestions for spreads and readings to help the reader obtain a deeper understanding of the cards. As a Tarot novice, I found this book immensely helpful, but I think that even the most seasoned Taroist can gain something from this book.

This is a very well-written book from a Christianity-to-Judaism convert that very effectively reminds readers that Jews and Christians have not always been two separate groups. The first half of the book summarizes the gradual split of the Jesus sect from mainstream Judaism, while the second half takes the reader through the New Testament book-by-book. The second half of the book is definitely more "scholarly" feeling than the first half, which may lose the interest of the casual reader. For me, the chapters were brief enough to give an idea of the social context in which the books were written, without becoming too long and dry. In fact, I somewhat regret that in an effort to keep the entire book a reasonable length, Galambush was a bit too limited to give some sections of the New Testament the amount of attention I would have liked. All in all, a fascinating read for anyone who might take an interest in the relationship between Judaism and Christianity.
