Very enjoyable quick read, aimed at young people I believe. Dark, creepy, creative, lovely. Great images, good characters, textures of loneliness, anger, hope, love, fear. Good exploration of a child's individuation from her parents, self-discovery, ...more

Tremendous fucking book, what can I say. This book is an example of what I love best about short stories. They have the powerful imagistic sleekness of his poetry; the pain and the humor are a one-two punch. God bless Sherman Alexie.

So Goodreads lists _one_ Murakami book? WTF??? Well, this is a good one (two) to have, but geez. He's one of my favorite authors; I think I have only not gotten around to reading his book on running. I read Wild Sheep Chase when I was looking for boo ...more
