Yay! \XD/ The Merlin cycle is very different from the first 5 books. There's a lot of magic and mystery in it, though I have to say that I missed Corwin and his scheming siblings!

Aw...I loved the lawyer friend on Earth! But actually, Zelazny's cameo is much shorter than that, so probably easy to miss. (I certainly did the first time around!)

I posted the quote as one of my favorites: http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/200...

I'm proud of myself (I guess?) for having finished this book, which for the most part was rather boring. There are only so many descriptions of Edward's godlike beauty I can take.

I saw the movie before I read it, so I can't say that anything in the book surprised me, as they are practically identical. For a 500 page book, I expected there to be something additional that wasn't in the movie, but I see now that this wasn't the case.

I wanted to like this book, especially since the reviews compared it to the Chronicles of Amber, which I loved. There are certainly some similarities (magical, immortal siblings with complicated relations), but I didn't like the book as much as I had hoped. I loved the premise, and wanted to know more about the intriguing lives of the children of Prospero...not to mention the wind spirits. The characters never really captured me, however. I didn't feel as though they were vivid or interesting enough, given the latitude this set-up would have afforded.

I was also rather surprised by the abrupt ending. It wasn't really much of a lead-in or cliffhanger for the next book. The story just suddenly stopped.

That being said, I did enjoy the story and its magical elements. I'll definitely be reading the continuation with the hope that the characters will have a chance to be more fully developed there.
