I read the Hunger Games back in February, and I absolutely loved it. I finished it in just a couple hours, then re-read it a day later. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the sequel. I started reading Catching Fire as soon as possible after getting it. I had high expectations for it. Perhaps a little too high.
Did I love the book? Yes. Was I a bit disappointed? Yes.
I had expected another action packed book. However, the action doesn't really pick up until later in the book. A large portion of it is spent fleshing out the story behind the action, adding a bit more depth to the plot. Personally, I think that these parts were important, even though I was expecting something different. For a second book in a trilogy, it did it's job very well. To me. So yes, I was slightly disappointed by Catching Fire, but not enough for it to lose it's spot on my all time favorites shelf. I will definitely be reading this again soon. ]]>
