[close] Laura Solomon was born in 1976 in Birmingham, Alabama and grew up in the rural southeast of the United States. She studied political science and literature at the University of Georgia and later poetry at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Solomon is the author of two collections of poetry, Bivouac (Slope Editions, 2002) and Blue and Red Things (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2007). Other publications include a chapbook, Letters by which Sisters Will Know Brothers (Katalanche Press, 2005) and Haiku des Pierres / Haiku of Stones by Jacques Poullaouec, a translation from the French with Sika Fakambi (Apogée Press, 2006). Her poetry is currently on display alongside work from London painter Abel Auer for the traveling exhibition Poets on Painters, and she has recently participated in Dorothea Lasky’s critically acclaimed online “Tiny Tour”, a series of televised readings held in Lasky’s apartment (www.birdinsnow.com). She currently lives in Verona, Italy with her husband singer-songwriter Nicola Battisti. [close]
