This one was a first for me because it's set in Victorian Egypt. I've read only one other book during 1890 but it was in America with some of the similar social rules. As You Desire has a very nice change of location and culture, much more free and colorful than stuffy regency England times in the earlier 1800s.

The two main characters were full of life and entertaining. Oh gosh the relationship they had was so much fun with banter and familarity between the two. Not exactly acting like best friends but there was a nice sort of push and pull...Harry teasing yet still being protective and watchful of her, Dizzy being oblivious and annoyed with him. Both tried to hide their feelings for one another. I also loved how basically everyone knew how strong of a connection they had. It was undeniable, any third parties never had a chance. 

Harry was one of those imperfect heroes that made me sigh as fanciful as it sounds lol. I haven't come across a hero dealing with dyslexia before, it was a interesting to see how he compensated and became successful. Dizzy was intriguing as well with his vast knowledge of language. Usually you don't find that the heroine was a child prodigy.
After getting a little restless with romances lately, particularly historical ones, I'm glad to have read this one. I hope I can find a few more set during this period and in this location.  (less) "
