Hi everyone,
The Amulet of Samarkhand is the first book of the Bartimaeus Trilogy. And what better than making a great first impression. I finished the whole book in one night.
This is about the story of a boy, Nathaniel who summons a djinni(Bartimaeus) to steal the Amulet of Samarkhand from a ruthless magician Lovelace. What follows is a cat and mouse chase story between Lovelace and the djinni and the boy Nathaniel. And don't forget to read the footnotes in the novel. It is a unique feature of this novel which includes footnotes hightlighting the djinni's hilarious thinking. I was ROFL reading some of the comments. Not only that, this novel is set as a fast-paced novel in the city of London giving the two world effect.
Overall, quite an impressive book with a gripping tale, good fantasy characters, keeps you smiling (you would definitely smile after reading the humourous thoughts of djinni even in tough situations).
