tl;dr.

Not that I didn't try to read it. It's just that each time, I got a little past Tom Bombadil and totally lost interest.

This book felt really hollow for me, because of Robert. Interesting things happened around him, but he was a real cardboard cutout of a main character. Other characters just picked him up, carried him around, plopped him into scenes and occasionally wiggled him to make it look like he was saying something.

It could have been a good book, if it had had a more interesting main character. I loved the book even more than the movie, which I hadn't thought was possible. The editor's notes were my favourite part - I love worldbuilding, even if it's just done as an aside.

I couldn't finish this book. I couldn't related to Bella as a character, and the constant references to how white Edward was really turned me off. Pretty much every time she started going off about his beauty, she had to mention his whiteness.
