It sucked. I have read fanfic that puts this book to shame. I would like to see character development beyond emphasis on how attractive people are (and how good their breath smells--blargh!). And frankly the Edward-Bella relationship is pretty screwed up. He mocks her, bosses her around like a child, and refuses to listen to her or let her be part of decisions that involve her. Some boyfriend! Bella is generally bitter and nasty about "regular" humans who are just trying to be nice to her, which is uncharming. And for someone who already knows her whole high school curriculum and is so much smarter than everyone else, her thoughts are pretty vapid. Edward, I know it just kills you that you can't read this special girl's thoughts, but there just isn't very much to read.
That said, if this is your guilty pleasure, go for it. It was a lightning quick read. ]]>
