Hilarious and yet also full of useful advice!

Next time I plan a wedding I'm totally going to have the cocktail hour before the ceremony. Genius.

Also lots of excellent advice about salad, e.g "a great salad will taste like it was crafted by the love

"Very enjoyable, although I liked the first in the series slightly better. This one reminded me a bit of Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga. Space ships and social issues mixed together in an interesting story line."

Another one of those books that is full of THINGS. In this case, Los Angeles things. Like William Mulholland as a water mage. Or digging out magical fossils from the La Brea tar pits.

I got about halfway through and gave up due to boredom.

A note of advice: when a book literally tells you that all the personality has been removed from the people in it, you're probably not going to be interested in what happens to them.
