This story by Chrissy Munder is one of the 'Nap-sized Dreams' and an entertaining read it was too.
Brian, who has pulled an all-nighter at work, calls into his local mega-market to pick up a few groceries on his way home. Whilst there, he spies a gorgeous-looking man who is very carefully looking at hairbrushes. Brian has a secret fantasy about being dominated and the sight of this man, almost caressing the hairbrushes pushes all his buttons. The man catches Brian staring at him, much to Brian's mortification. As Brian pays for his shopping he discovers the hairbrush in his basket and an even bigger surprise awaits him in the car park.
I really liked Brian. I have a soft spot for IT geeky heroes, who are pale and interesting and Brian was certainly this. I also really liked that he was wryly aware of his submissive fantasies and would even try to manipulate Dale into acting those fantasies out for him. Because the story is only from Brian's point of view, it was difficult to get any handle on Dale's personality in such a short story, but he came across as quietly calm and firm which provided a perfect counterpoint to Brian's slightly nervy behaviour. The other starring role in this story goes to Brian's 'over-bonded' cat, Dwayne, who added some comedy moments in what could have been an overly tense bondage theme.
This story fairly sparkles with humour and wit. Brian's sympathetic viewpoint and self-depreciating personality make this 'BDSM-lite' story very amusing as well as engrossing. There is a feast for the senses as the author describes in detail the smells, sounds, looks and tastes that Brian encounters during the liason with Dale, adding to the sexual tension, which starts small and is slowly increased as the story progresses. I'm not usually a fan of BDSM, but the way that the author describes the emotions that Brian encounters, made me understand why he would wish to take on the submissive role. I would highly recommend this story to anyone with a spare hour or so. ]]>
