Jane Austen is a mastermind! I love that she was able to bring me back to a time when life was so much simpler and honest. Elinor and Marianne display the characteristics of two loving sisters who both share a passion for life and love. Although there exists a common passion for both, each girl displays it with differing personalities. I loved getting to know Elinor as the one to use great sense in all her dealings with life. She is practical, perceptive, and reasonable. Marianne on the other hand uses her sensibility to handle life. I don't think I have ever read a more moving book than this. I am continually fascinated by the Holocaust and Night did not fail to hold my fascination. Elie Wiesel and many others like him survived by the miraculous hand of God to be able to tell their stories and keep everyone remembering. Hearing and reading various Holocaust victim's accounts instantly brings gratitude for the life I have been blessed with. No matter how many books I read on this tragic human annihilation, I will never be able to fully comprehend the sorrows and difficulties it brought on. If you are looking for an inspirational book, one that will make you see life with a broader and more positive perspective, definitely read this one. I only rated it with three stars because it didn't hold my interest the entire way through. I probably should mention I didn't actually read the book, I listened to the audio version.
