Similarly themed as The End of the Affair. A man runs smack into God through an unlikely means - an affair with a woman who has not been religious formerly. However, Waugh's sense of humor is subtle and clever and comes through more. Also, other themes are incorporated (coming of age, nostalgia, the fascinating life-style of the English gentry) and I enjoyed the flow of the text. I know it belongs on an 8th grade reading list but I love this book! Its just a well-told story: the characters are memorable and the plot thought-provoking. I read it almost every year (seriously.)
