It was an okay book as far as YA fiction goes. A little "Twilight"-ish in the love story department,(meaning the suddenly extreme romance between the main characters was a little barfy and unrealistic for me) but then again it is a "teenage love" story. If I had to grade it I would give it a C+ for being an original story with interesting characters and plot line... but not all that new.

It's about a girl named Grace (who is all but completely neglected by parents who clearly shouldn't have had children- totally bugged me)who falls in love with a boy who turns out to be a werewolf. The story bothered me in some ways because Grace, who was attacked by the wolves as a child- but never turned werewolf herself, is a little too obsessed with her guy even in wolf form. Weird. I have mixed feelings about this series. I liked the story in general, and knowing what happens next, so I've kept reading. But I find myself getting bored after the first few chapters of each book, and skimming through to see what happens in the end. I don't know if that's my problem or the authors. But, despite the sometimes boring text, you can't help but love Gregor (the main character) and his little sister Boots. They're the reason I've plowed through the rest of the "Underland Chronicles".

The story is about a New York City boy, named Gregor, who discovers a hidden world underground when he jumps down a vent (located in the basement laundry room of their apartment building) to save his two year old sister, who fell in by accident. He meets friends and enemies down in the strange dark world, learns about a prophecy in which he is a warrior, and discovers clues to his fathers disappearance, which happened some years previously. ]]>
