The page number difference between two editions of GWtW (959 vs 1048) may be a function of font size, leading and margins leaving the content the same.

But, consider these two editions of Hamlet:

The Dover edition is 128 pages while the Arden edition is 613 pages.

In a competition where page numbers matter, it would not be fair to the person who read the preface, introduction, essays, footnotes, appendices in the Arden edition to get the same number of points as someone who read the Dover edition.

That's one of the reasons I'll stick with a rah-rah, don't change this to a competition mentality*.

If you want points for page numbers, then participate in the competition that gives points for page numbers.
