I love the history of Romania in this novel. The story is of Dracula is so much better with real geography and history to go with it.
It's a long read but keeps you wanting more.
This read caused me to look at other Vampire/Dracula novels. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything this detailed.

I read this book over 15 years ago, when it first came out in paperback. It was one of the first 'historical military' books I had read about Vietnam.
I was floored by the experiences brightly weaved into this book.
This book completely changed the direction of my reading material; from mostly fiction to really learning about history in a 'non-classroom' environment.
