Ms. Hegi offers insights into the state of mind of small village inhabitants during the rise and fall of Hitler in WW II, via her protaganist, Trudy, a dwarf. As a dwarf, Trudy deeply empathizes with the folks in her village who are treated as Other, or Outsiders. In this case, it will be the Jews who will become scape-goated and persecuted as the Other in German society.

Excellent story about Brandon Bays process of healing herself of a huge cancerous tumor via her path of emotional healing.Ms. Bays has since created a process, called the Journeywork, and offers these intensives around the world where people can come and do these emotional healing processes that help them heal on the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.
Brandon's healing is a testament to the power of our innate wisdom as healer. This book was hard to put down, Branson's own story was so compelling, as she faced cancer, the loss of her home, income, daughter, and much more. Yet , Brandon found the vital connection to Source and Truth that allowed her to have a Faith that transcends all external happenings. In this book, she gives people the hope that they can find within themselves, no mtter what the outer condition of their lives, the strength and faith to overcome all seeming obstacles, and instead, to find the magic (or the lessons) in whatever is happening in their lives.

Krakauer does it again, as a skilled investigative reporter, historian,and story-teller extraordinaire.

This book is 2 stories in one.
In one vein, Krakauer tells the story of Pat Tillman, a young football player who walked away from a multi-million dollar NFL contract to enlist in teh US Army after 9/11. The story unfolds until the fateful day of his death in Afghanistan by friendly fire, along with its complicated aftermath, in which the US government initially lied about the circumstances of his death, and sought to cover up the truth from his family and the media.

Interwoven with Pat Tillman's life story is the political and social history of Afghanistan and it even more complex web of political and religious factions that have coalesced over the last 60 years.
