I won the chance to give With Extreme Pleasure away on my blog by the awesomely talented Alison Kent. She also gave me the go ahead to read and review, which is really and truly awesome. Because of life (work, school, family, etc) it took me a while to read the book, though I tried my best to read at every availble free moment, even going so far as to ignore things like homework, dinner (take out!), and sleep.
I didn't know that With Extreme Pleasure was a sort of spin-off of her SG-5 series, but it didn't matter much because Ms. Kent kept everything clear - she gave enough information so that I wasn't completely lost, but not so much that she bogged down this book with a rehash of the previous novels.
From the very first page, I was drawn into the story. I immediately liked Kingdom "King" Trahan and his gruff (but oh-so-sexy) Southern male mentality. And seeing the transition that Cady Kowalski went through from confident stylist to scared girl on the run... my heart went out to her, and I could definitely see why King would (grudgingly) take her under his wing - that's a big part of the Southern male persona - protector.
At first, it seemed a little unlikely that someone who was so set on going back home to his sunshine and crawfish would allow a scared girl who's clearly on the run to tag along with him, but certain events made it impossible for him to turn away, and that (of course) made me love him more. After all, who doesn't want a big strong gorgeous man to take care of them when they're unable to? (Being a Southern Woman myself, I find it necessary to make it known that I'm perfectly capable of handling myself, but like it when a man wants to take care of me)
The love scenes were intense and sexy and downright hot. Cady and King had chemistry and knew how to put it to good use!
My overall thoughts? A really great read. Because I'm giving my ARC away on my blog, I have every intention of buying it when it finally does come out (in December!) and re-reading.
