Changing my mind. There is a point in a novel where you either lose interest and pummel through it or discard it, or you become suddenly awestruck, something has struck a chord, and you are reflected in the novel, and connected to the author...this is the point i have reached. Again. Murakami always gets me in the end. And it happened somewhere around the middle, like he was hungrily stepping around the issue at hand, (specifically running and writing), and then he came in for the kill. HAHA. What I mean to say is that he began the comparison of quality writing to running, and began talking about his own mental process in relation to both, as opposed to some of the physical experiences he'd related prior to this point. He has an amazing ability to visually illuminate his feelings and philosophies as well as the scenes of his experiences. The focus, patience, and fog-busting required to forge ahead as a runner or a writer is similar. There is a separate world, and and depth of feeling from inside that must be tapped into, and this is something Murakami obviously has explored at great lengths...=) ]]>
