Caitlin said: I am a nanoer- I have participated AND COMPLETED the Nanowrimo for the last two years, and November is forever know to me of the month of WRITING, franticly, furiously, lovingly, angrily, ferociously, hopelessly, neurotically, and passionately. I love it I hate it, I love it all over again and there is nothing better than the feeling of finishing the last few words that will put you over the 50,000 mark. You will be doing the happy, happy dance of joy!!!! The whole act of Nano is so thrilling and so fabulous. It is also full of perils, you WILL be giving excuses to yourself WHY you couldn't WRITE on a PARTICULAR day- realize we all have those days- and this is a competition in the TRUE spirit of competition- that being the competition of self. You bust yourself for slacking, cheating, and putting in extra one syllable words just to up your word count. The book is NOT going to be perfect, and SO many people get caught up in that idea and get discouraged. Throw away the idea of perfectionism, and let your inner voice flow free, throw away spelling and grammar- ( make a date to spell check the novella in the early days of December. ) just write and write and have a cup of coffee, write and write, get distracted about twenty times, and love it and hate it and ask your self why in the h*ll someone would voluntarily do this to themselves and then write some more.
A the Month of November- I used to think of it as the month of crisp fall walks, homemade apple pie, thanksgiving and shopping. Now its all about writing and more writing- and I freeking love it.
Ps it helps to realize early on that you are a bit crazy to be taking this undertaking- and to GO WITH IT!!!!
