Synopsis:
I am Meredith, princess of faerie, wielder of the hands of Flesh and Blood, and at long last, I am with child–

twins, fathered by my royal guard. Though my uncle, Taranis, King of Light and Illusion, claims that he is the

true father since he abducted me from my home, betrayed, and defiled me. And now he has branded my

guards as a threat to my unborn children.

Bearing an heir has placed me halfway to my aunt’s throne, that much closer to my reign over the Unseelie

Court–and well ahead of her son, my cousin Cel, in this race. Now I must stay alive to see my children born

and claim my place as queen.

But not all in faerie are pleased with the news, and conspirators from every court in the realm plot against

me and mine. They seek to strip my guards, my lovers, from me by poisoned word or cold steel. But I still

have supporters, and even friends, among the goblins and the sluagh, who will stand by me.

I am Meredith Nic Essus, and those who would defy and destroy me are destined to pay a terrible price–for I

am truly my father’s daughter. To protect what is mine, I will sacrifice anything–even if it means waging a

great battle against my darkest enemies and making the most momentous decision ever made as princess of

faerie.

My thoughts:
Swallowing Darkness is the seventh book in the Meredith Gentry series by the amazing Laurell K Hamilton.
Swallowing Darkness starts with Merry in a human hospital, having just been raped by her uncle and the

King of the Seelie court. ( A very emotional and fantastic writen scene, despite the actions in it.)
During this installment our heroine Meredith is newly pregnant with twins. And it's crazy but she's fathered

by not one, not two, but five of her royal guards plus Sholto the King of the Slaugh. I find it harder and

harder to decide who I like the most, each male is amazing.
Merry’s treacherous cousin Cel isn't letting Meredith down easy either since he's the rival for the throne.

Meredith finds it hard because many among the Unseelie Sidhe would prefer Cel's leadership( even if it is

horrible)to that of a mixed-blood mortal.
This installment is full of twists and action. It's emotionally charged and amazingly written, like the rest of the series. I think this installment is my favorite so far. It's a toss between this one and A lick of Frost. Swallowing Darkness is heart wrenching and full of face paced and lusty scenes. I'm a huge fan of this series and cannot wait for Divine Misdemeanors. If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend you do!

Lover Enshrined is the sixth installment in the amazing Black Dagger Brotherhood series by the popular author J.R Ward. I was very excited for this book because I was longing for Phury's happiness and I interested in his past besides what was told during Zsadist's story. Phury is in ways just as broken and complicated as his tortured brother Zsadist. Zsadist's story was my favorite. And both Vishous and now Phury's is a close second and third.

As The Chosen female, Cormia will serve as Phury’s First Mate.At first she was tore and confused with the thought of being the chosen but now she chooses to go through with the tradition willingly. Yet after spending months in his world, they were no closer to completing the necessary ritual than the first day. Cormia finds herself more and more drawn to Phury, and not just as a Primale, she wants him for him and finds she also wants him all to herself, even though she knows she shouldn't because such thoughts go against everything she was taught.

Phury finds himself confused and hurt during most of this book. He takes a while to finally realize what his heart truly wants and what is the right thing to do. He has always put the needs of others above his own and he finally reaches a breaking point in Lover Enshrined when his drug addiction get out of control. He becomes harmful to himself and those around him, he has to focus on what he truly wants in his life or he will loose more than he has already. Naturally, Phury is not the first male one would choose for the Primale besides his lack of expereince with woman and also because his reason for choosing the Primale role is because he yet again put others needs above his own and now he's over his head. So Phury is left with with the greatest choice of his life and hoping he makes the right decision.

Qhuinn, Blay, John and Lash have stronger roles in this book with a strong storyline that is very emotional and full of action. Qhuinn finds himself in a horrible situation when he is faced with something he does out of anger. Blay is confused with his feelings and is torn on how to act. John goes through hard trials but becomes something to be proud of. I find myself liking John more and more. I cannot wait to read more of his story. And as for Lash, without giving much away.. I can say he is something evil and needs to be dealt with. Some people make you not want to save, and Lash is in that category for me.

J.R Ward's writing is highly addictive and heart wrenching. I've been a fan since the beginning and know I will be until the end! If your a fan of Vampires and Romance and much awesome action Black Dagger Brotherhood is the series to read!

Summary (from the book jacket)

Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood’s bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is obligated to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that traditions of the race survive, and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.

As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body but his heart for herself. She is drawn to the noble responsibility behind the emotionally scarred male. But Phury has never allowed himself to know pleasure or joy. As the war with Lessening Society grows grim, tragedy looms over the Brotherhood’s mansion, and Phury must decide between duty and love….
