I made it to the end. I didn't think I would when I started.
In several places, Mr. Wolfe will go on-and-on about the use of certain words in the college lexicon. Words like "shit" and "fuck". Using these words - frequently - and in different parts of speech is NOTHING NEW. Had I been the editor, I would have wiped out vast paragraphs that rambled on about this trend.
I also found it offensive when he kept referring to Charlotte as, "a typically depressed young woman". I didn't know depression was gender linked - and it didn't need to be used more than once.
On the plus side - it was nice to see some characters grow - and realize life was bigger than them/their own navel gazing interests. It was heartbreaking to see everyone goes through the mindless steps of finding a social home, making compromises and trying to fit in.
