I admit, I maybe had some very slight, minuscule irritation of the tear ducts near the end of this story.
It was pretty good. The prose did not do very much for me, but the author kept on finding new things to do with the premise, and the romance never feels fake or forced, despite the main couple remaining pretty fiercely loyal through the whole thing.
Side-characters seem a little bit undeveloped, particularly Gomez, who we are told is the Time Traveler's best friend, but we never see him do anything except lust after the Time Traveler's wife. At some big moments of payoff I felt like I had a better idea for how to resolve things, which is never a good feeling to have. ]]>
Swift is clever and fun to read, but I wish he would stop saying "I can't IMAGINE how ANYONE could object to this proposition, I mean it is FLAWLESS. I can't see anything wrong with it, can YOU? Probably not!"
I'm all like,
"Jonathan, listen, I love what you're thinking here, but maybe you could wink at and nudge the readers less than a hundred times? Just brainstorming here, you keep on doing your thing." ]]>
