I picked this up when I was reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I was really inspired by the romance of riding on the road and Zen really put you in the experience of being exposed to the world while riding.

This book is a pictorial along with quotes from bikers in all walks of life. This was fun to read and I can see how its laying out the pieces on the board for something big to happen. I didn't really feel the mounting tension, though, which I think was intentional. The title, "Happy Days," kind of sums it up with a breather from deep emotional pain. Even the bad guys don't seem as bad.

I wonder a lot why there seems to be a stigma against happy stories (or music, for that matter). I think its harder to find a good one than a good thriller or painful drama. I guess for the most part happy stories don't help us learn anything about ourselves. Its almost like "nothing happened here." But I think everyone once in awhile we need to reminded how to be happy.

The last story didn't do much for me and I wonder why. The characters didn't seem very 3 dimensional, but then I guess there wasn't much time for that. They seemed to exist only for the plot to move forward.
