One of the first Marxist accounts of the function of imperialism and stratified modes of development. Last chapter is clearly the most important. Anticipates loan structures on newly nationalized nations and social movements that emerge from them. Also one of the most important women figures of Marxist theory.

Read a great deal of this for my U.S. Latino Literature and Culture class. It is an interesting deliberation on the meaning of a tradition, what gets included often includes things like editorials and protest literature which does connect up with things like the 1960s mobilization literature. At the same time the excerpts can be a little short and small--definitely better for a 200 level course than a 300 level.
