I feel your pain - I hate waiting for the sequel books to be released. Stephen Lawhead is that way. I started Hood, then put it away until the series is all published.
It's great that KMM has finished the series, tho. At least you know her illness won't leave the work unfinished. Still - the waiting is the hardest part. ]]>

Kat,
Have you read anymore Lawhead since you finished the Albion series? I've read everything of his I can find, tho I have only read the first book of the Robin Hood series so far.
He even wrote a two book Sci Fi early in his career - Empyrion I think it was called. That's what first got my attention - oh so many years ago. ]]>

Maybe I just went into this with a poor attitude. It is October after all, pre-halloween, and From The Dust Returned is all about ghosts and ghoulies. I guess it just felt like Ray was being overly wordy. Even if it were meant to be poetic prose I would still want to edit this and tighten up most of the chapters.
I struggled through half the book and finally gave up. I do have other things to read. I can't recommend this, and wonder if it was only published because of his name. ]]>
Despite a somewhat rambling opening, I really enjoyed this read.
Published in '59, when nuclear war was new and scary and so very possible, I found the characters believable and likeable. After reading the final page I wanted to install a wind turbine and plant a garden.
I can't help but speculate that the creator of the TV series "Jericho" must have read this book at some point. Community must band together, resources shared, bandits strung up in the town square.
I pray that I don't live to see the day that America has to struggle through a full out attack on our home soil. ]]>
