false2465351 My favorite genre is sci fi for two reasons: (1) I believe in the ability of humanity to learn, grow, and have compassion toward one another and other species (essentially, in the capacity to create a better life here on Earth and amongst the stars, though whether we actually will is by no means certain); and (2) sci fi allows us to explore issues in a way not possible in other literary forms, by throwing off the trappings and prejudices of the contemporary world in which we live.

Sorry I've been so out of touch on GR the last month or so. Real life has just been way too "real" if you know what I mean. Then we got a nice break and spent eight days in Disneyland, then came home and the last week has still been too real. In fact, real life seems even more "real" (I didn't think it could get more real) when compared to the Magic Kingdom.
So anyway I hope to get back on GR soon and write reviews of recently-read material. Hope you and Richard are doing well!]]>
