Life After 187 is literally an action packed movie with words. At first, I was having a hard time connecting with the story and characters. But once I started reading further, everything changed. I simply couldn't get enough of this roller coaster adventure! The story opens up with Kane and his father. Kane was a military brat that was brought up to be respectful and tough. He then got married to the love of his life but unfortunately was cut short due to her murder. I was emotionally touched when this occurred because you could feel Kane's pain and revenge. His actions after her murder resulted in him being locked up in prison. The part that took place in prison was shocking. It's crazy how the Warden asked Kane and two other inmates to become fighters for his pleasure in betting. I enjoyed the three main characters and I grew to be attached to their brotherhood. But for the negative side, I've heard the story of a husband seeking revenge for his wife and landing in a prison with a warden who seeks entertainment too many times. If you've seen the movie Death Race, it's eerily similar. However, the twist that makes it refreshing is when the three inmates escape which leads us to a worldly journey. Overall, if you're looking for a fun, thrill seeking novel, then I recommended this book!

After reading Boys, Girls & Other Hazardous Materials, Rosalind has made my favorite debut YA author list. Her first young adult book was beautifully written. Her teenage tone was spot on and the fluidity of the story was addictive. The sense of humor throughout the chapters put a smile on my face and I caught myself giggling at times. A lot of YA books are about mean girls in high school but, Rosalind presented the total opposite. She introduced boys going through the same cycle of acceptance and how far they're willing to go to achieve it. The main character Charlie, which is short for Charlotte, had a rough time in middle school. Her group of girlfriends were popular, stuck up, mean girls that used Charlie as their toy of entertainment. Charlie's experience in high school was different compared to her previous years. She succeeded in befriending loyal girlfriends but found out that the boys lacrosse team was bad news. It consisted of jerks who were willing to put freshmen players through hell. Charlie came across some information that can put an end to this bullying or will she ignore it like everyone else? Read the book and you'll find out! I enjoyed the ending but I wanted more! I hope their will be a sequel because I learned to care for these characters and I want to see the rest of their high school years. Great debut from Rosalind and I can't wait to read her future projects!

Yet again another House of Night book, I wonder how long the series is going to be? I liked it, but I wasn't jumping for joy. However, I do think it's ten times better than the previous book, Hunted. I actually thought Hunted sucked because it felt like it was repeating everything that happened over and over. I was intrigued by the storyline in Tempted because we get to see Kalona's different sides. I also am now in love with Stark, I think he is an amazing character. The beginning picked up exactly where Hunted left off and the storyline did present some interesting twists and turns. Especially the craziest twist of all, the ending! I was shocked and saddened at the same time. I'm not going to give it away because it's just too unexpected. Overall, it was good and I look forward to reading the next book, Burned which comes out April 27, 2010. Merry part and merry meet again! (They say that a lot in the House of Night series for those that are like huh? lol.)
