My brother recently completed his first marathon. So when I found this book at the library I handed it over to him first. He said it was the greatest thing he has ever read. I plowed through this book in about 5 hours, I had to tear myself away to stop for food.
With all that being said this is a fascinating look at the ultra-distance running culture. Mr. Mcdougall weaves stories about the running shoe industry, biomechanics, persistance hunting (exhausting animals by out running them), and his own story of finishing a 50 mile race after a lifetime of running injuries.
