I very much wanted to like this book, but it didn't make it for me. Lysandra was not a very likeable character, her own personality was one of showing no emotions and so I wasn't left to feel any emotions for her. The story itself was the most interesting part. Looking at how a Gladiatrix might have lived. The author incorporated some actual names from history which made it seem more realistic, but a lot of the story seemed unrealistic. It started off pretty good, but then went downhill fast.
