This read like a conversation I would have with my grandma in the midwest....lol. I had a hard time getting though this book it dragged in parts. I live in Nebraska and had to read over and over decriptions of corn that was like watching paint peel! This was simple writting with history of the town Spencer Iowa and its surroundings.
The anthrpomorphism may drive many readers crazy! While the changes Dewey Readmore Books brought to the little library are undeniable. It was a cute book. I liked when the author put her back story and her struggles into the book and made it more personal, but part of me felt this book was like an advertisement or ploy to put a small town on the map and make it a tourist attraction. Vicki Myron knew what she was doing and works any angle to save her town and her library, smart lady ;)

I really enjoyed how this book was set up as each chapter is a little adventure put in a whole to make a captivating, spooky story that pieces all together. Love the fresh idea of a child living and being raised, nurtured and taught by centries of many old generations of spirits all collaborating together for a purpose. I think I would recommend this as a good creepy story for tweens and teens that don't like gore but like a little spooky reading. I could see this as a beginning of a series because I still am left woundering with questions on Nobody Owens adult life and how he got on with a life amongst the living.
