Sabatini never disappoints! This is a reread for me from my youth but I've always loved this book, as well as the movie with Errol Flynn. His use of language and style is flawless. It really helps propel you back into the time of James II and William and Anne.

The story is tight, historically accurate and very dramatic. It holds your attention from beginning until the end. I wouldn't call it a character driven novel, but the main character of Peter Blood is very well developed.

Of the first five volumes which I have read, this has been my least favourite. It was a good story but the artwork was inconsistent. I didn't care for two of the chosen artists and that made the story suffer in my opinion.

The whole play on a common fantasy plotline story was all right, but the others up until now have been much darker.
