At first, I really disliked Holly Golightly, at the end, I came to admire the story. The best part of this collection of one long short story and three short ones is the one entitled "A Christmas Memory". The ending actually brought a tear to my eye, and I knew without Googling it that it must be largely autobiographic. I started reading this novel once before, but gave up because the language was so complicated. I never really got into it that time. This time I persevered, and slowly but surely I got back into Jane Austen's language and started to enjoy the novel. My first review got entirely lost into the web ether so I'll just summarise this one:

* a lengthy book but quite quick to read
* enjoyable!
* good background research (I did spot a few mistakes, but mainly in the Norwegian bits)
* Norwegians! (I didn't know in advance!)
* the plot draws you in and the nature descriptions are spot-on (amazing for an agoraphobic!)
* a good murder mystery

Warmly recommended!

I just re-read this novel as I chose it for our book club for this month. Unfortunately I couldn't actually be there for the book club meeting, but I still wanted to read the novel.
