Anita Blake is a slut, but it isn't her fault. She has the "Ardeau" now and must have relations or some such thing with almost every vampire, werewolf and whatever else she comes across. I have the same problem, so I empathize with poor Anita.
However, Anita is tougher and more fun than I am. She also looks better in a satin skirt and come-hither red lipstick than I do. But that is neither here nor there...
In this book, Anita meets a supernatural serial killer. The vampiress Belle Morte is something of a "surrogate" to Musette. Musette is one of my all time favorite characters. I wouldn't kick her out of my bed even though she is trapped in Belle Mortes body...
That being said, these books have, to me, become convuluted and over-laden with back story, vampire politics, unrealistic "bad-ass-ness" and of course, the heroines own over-the-top sex life. I know that Laurell K. Hamilton has a strong fan-base (and rightfully so~ she is an excellent writer) and as much as I would hate to have a mob of angry vampire literature loyalists on my bad side, I have to say I have simply lost interest in these books for the most part. The story line has become lost in overly-described vampire-hunter ammo, erotic attire, unrealistically beautiful male strippers and Anita Blakes confusing to-the-point-of-who-cares-anyway relationship status. But, in my opinion, the real deterioration of this series is the ever-increasing sexual ridiculousness. Mind you, I am a freaking pervert... yet I find myself sighing and wanting Laurell K. to get to the point. Perhaps I am being overly ciritical... all I know is this... if a man in nothing but a towel, no matter how breathtaking he might be, were stabbed in my presence and slid to his near-ruin down my bathroom wall, I would not be trying to see what was up the towel... even IF I were so inclined and enjoyed such sights. I do not want to hear about the "bronzed line of his thick-with-muscle thigh" when the dude just got stabbed. To me, the stabbing takes precidence over the athletic thigh. But that's just me.

It's been said that I will do anything to gasp aloud and clutch my pearls. Having given this some thought, I agree that it is true.
This book had me whispering "Sweet Jesus" and turning pages at a nymphomaniacal rate.
This is the second book in A.N. Roquelaure's (Anne Rice) Sleeping Beauty series. It is the continuing story of Beauty, the horny princess-slave and Tristan, her trusty he-whore companion.
I really don't know if the book was "good" or not, because I was so engulfed in the horrendous images of kink that to be honest, I didn't really follow the story.
I like to read these books and claim it is for "research purposes" because that always makes such behavior sound not only acceptable, but also adds a tint of "importance". Granted, when asked, "Research for what?" I am at a complete open-mouthed, blank-stared loss... however, I bank on the fact that most people would rather swat flies than listen to an account of someone else's personal interests. BUT, keep in mind... there's always going to be that ONE busy-body that's just got to know why you are reading these books, so my suggestion is to have at least one good solid excuse at the ready. Perhaps you mistook it for the original Sleeping Beauty fairytale? Maybe it was your dying Aunt Gerladine's last wish that you should read these books, however disgusting they be? I don't know, but think of something because someone will ask, I assure you.
This is a fast and easy read, and something you might feel inclined to indulge in whilst at the dentists, or waiting for your order at the Taco Bell. However, be warned... I made the mistake of reading my copy of this book at the DMV while waiting for my driver's license picture renewal. Now, for the next nine years or so, I will not even dare to drive even 6 miles over the speed limit, lest I get pulled over and have to show some cop the hideous result of this faux pas. Apparently, the side effects of reading this series include, but are not limited to, a beet-red face, beads of sweat on the forehead, that glazed-over "pervert" glint in the eye and (if you look closely enough at my driver's license picture) a bit of dribble on the chin.
That they call these books "erotica" is an understatement of the most sexually-repressed kind. Penthouse Letters will undoubtedly have the same sexual effect on me as "Where's Waldo" from this day forward. Not to say that there isn't a place in the sexual world for Waldo fetishists, it's just personally not my bag. But that is a whole other book review...

I don't care what anyone says, this book is about a drunkard. The drunkard being, of course, Dr. Jekyll, a socially handicapped and scientifically inept English nerd with a low IQ and an even lower tolerance for drink.
I think the moral of the story is to teach us how to more effectively escape personal responsibility by creating a make believe personality on which to blame our drunken discretions. And it works! Robert Louis Stevenson was a genius! I got faced last weekend, took a baseball bat to my next door neighbors Escapade, and when interrogated the next morning, I simply claimed to have seen a gimping figure looming suspiciously in the shadows of the trailer park and my neighbor automatically assumed that must have been the perpetrator. However, unlike Stevenson's bland creation, Mr. Hyde, I call mine "Pearl B. Obertmeyer".
I recommend this book to anyone with ADD (it is only like, 200 pages long). I would also recommend it to anyonw with an uncontrollable compulsion for liqour and a relatively good-sized chip on thier shoulder when the booze kicks in.
