After reading this book I truly appreciate the importance of hardening electronics against EMP's (electromagnetic pulses.) Although some of the items in this book have been debunked by expert, others say that this is like "Alas, Babylon" in bringing awareness to one of the greatest threats of our age and one that is not being talked about because the report on EMP threat here in the USA came out on the same day as the 9-11 report. (so, not many people read it)

This book challenges many of the truths that we consider fact such as "If you work hard you get ahead" and that luck is truly just luck (it is not!)

This has some great points for educators including that classes should be grouped by birthday (this makes a lot of sense after hearing his arguments and the research to back it up.)

In the same vein of Freakonomics, this book debunks the myth of genius to show how upbringing and other factors truly influence the most remarkable people of our generation.

I enjoyed reading this book and read some excerpts to my ninth and tenth grade students (the 10,000 rule section in particular.)

This is an excellent book for librarians, librarian-teachers, media specialists and those responsible for school design including administrators and school board members. David Loertscher is one of the longstanding visionaries in this area and his vision for what media centers can and should be is inspiring to me.
