In the second book of The Black Sun's Daughter series Jayne is thrown even further out of her comfort zone. She ends up in New Orleans after a phone call from one of her dead uncle's old cohorts. She enters a world of demons and voodoo that is completely out of her league. But Jayne and the crew throw themselves into it head first. And what a ride it is!

Most of the characters that I grew to love in the first book of this series are back with her. I love that the nature of the relationships between Jayne, Aubrey, Ex and Chogyi Jake seem to come into the open. That's one question that is finally answered (at least somewhat) in this book. I still love Ex, even if I want to shake him sometimes. And Aubrey...even though I didn't really like him in the last book...seemed to grow on me a little more in this one. I'm not goign to lie and say that I like him for Jayne, but I like him a little more as a character. Chogyi Jake...he's still the modern day zen monk that I grew to love.

This one was more emotional for me. There was one part where I was reduced to tears. Not because anyone died. But because of the hopeless situation that Jayne found herself in emotionally. It was written so well. I could feel the pain, rejection and isolation she was experiencing at that moment.

I can't say much more without spoilers...so I'll leave it with this. M.L.N. Hanover is going on my auto buy list!
