I found this book very well written, but a bit of a slog. The chapters are very long so it leaves you looking for a place to stop. The characters are interesting, very human, and not overly likable. I first read this book about 9 years ago. I enjoyed it then, but re-reading it as a mother has made me appreciate it even more. This is definitely a book for women, but I would not consider it chick lit. The subject matter is deep and the characters complex.
