The Tipping Point is a book about ideas on situations, they could be the right explanations for the causation of the situations in his book or they are just coincidence. I personally don't care either way because what i have learned is how people react to different situations at least how he thought they react. In the end the biggest thing i got out of this book was a detailed analysis of different events that have shaped our ever changing world.
I really liked the evidence he gave when talking about the theories in his book. They don't completely explain everything, but they are a good starting point for discussion. The reduction of crime in NYC isn't completely explained by a few influential kids not wanting to be bad anymore, but i like that he gives my generation a lot of credit for not continuing the violence of past generations.
I could go on and on about different solutions to his theories, but my recommendation is to read the book and figure out what is right in your mind. The reason i recommend this book is because it evokes you to think about these topics and discuss you thoughts. ]]>
