Better than I, Claudius. I enjoy Roman history and Robert Graves portrays the life of this lesser known emporer very well. Always in the back drop is early Christianity. The events surrounding the conquest of Britain and Claudius's troubles in the Middle East are well described.

Claudius only had one true friend and he could not even trust his own wife. He meant well and tried to restore the Republic but there was always some reason his work was not quit done.

I am amused at how tyrants always seem to live in a world where they are not the tyrants.

I listened to this while training for the Marine Corps Marathon. The book was over 18 hours long and good for those long training runs. Claudius knows how to take your mind off the run.

I listened to this book while training for the Marine Corps Marathon and I finished it on the marathon. This story really puts 26.2 miles into perspective.

This book is considered a must read for leaders and I agree. Over 400 days on the ice can realign your priorities fast.

I am so glad this book was recommended to me. This has become a cult favorite in my office. A semi-fictional biography detailing Rome's fourth emporer's rise to the seat of power. I, Claudius is both humerous and horrific. Imperial Rome was a tough world to live in and being a stuttering cripple actually had its advantages. I look forward to delving into the follow-on book, Claudius the God.

This book was great. I enjoyed listening to it while driving to and from work. A must read for any Irish Catholic. The author details how the Roman Empire fell in relation to the Irish. He shows how St. Patrick brought Christianity to a semi-ordered people in touch with their land and environment. The Irish flavor of Catholicism is different from the Roman version but yet its impact is still felt to this day. The Irish had women priests and abbessess. England was the dividing line between Irish and Roman Catholicism. Many towns and churches throughout Europe and as far away as Russia were founded by Irish missionaries.
