I'm so happy to have discovered Agatha Christie. To be honest, I only started reading this because so many people said it influenced Harper's Island. Once I got into the book, I realized it wasn't the fluffy, light-hearted whodunit that I had pictured at first. There are some real chilling moments here. Dark, even. Really charming! The ending came as a total surprise to me. Christie has a real knack for fleshing out characters, and the shifting viewpoint helped me to understand each one better. I was also surprised at some of the issues the characters had. For some reason I have this mental thing that makes me think psychology wasn't discussed until the 1960s or so, and even then in simplistic terms. Not so with this novel. Fascinating character studies. ]]>
