Ugh! I hear ya! There's nothing worse than a book that's "meh" when you were really craving a good read!
If you're interested in historic fiction and you like amore poetic read, may I recommend "The Book Thief"? I've recommended it to maybe 10 people or so, and all but 1 really really enjoyed it.
It takes place in a small German town during WWII. While it can be a bit slow in parts, overall it was one of the best books I've ever read. :) Really very very moving; I cried for a good two hours afterwards, LOL!!!!
