I enjoyed this very well written fiction novel. Since their childhood April and Oliver have been attracted to each other. Both of them went to different directions after they grew up. Oliver eventually hoped to become an attorney, not because he really wanted too, but because he has been thought that man has to make enough leaving to provide for the family. April’s life was torn and went to the wrong direction since she was 9. The novel is very easy to read and hard to put down. The novel teaches what it takes to learn about yourself and listen to wht is going on within yourself. With each page the author was able to "open" more surprises, either sad or happy. The book is spiritual and over all though reads a little sad. This is my first book by J. Carey. I found this book very different from what I read so far. Santa Olivia influence was quiet impressive throughout the story. Loup Garuo/Garron, the wolf-woman, was fascinating heroine. She could loose her life and freedom over her promise to fight. All idea about the US Military and the buffer zone, Outpost, between US and Mexico, Genetically modified organisms, and the Santa Anna El Segundo was very creative fantacy in all fit in well together. This book very well written and touches many types of values: ethical/moral values, doctrinal/ideological, social values, and aesthetic values.
