The author of this book was a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon diagnosed with terminal cancer and given just months to live. The Last Lecture is basically the wisdom he imparts and the legacy leaves behind for his family, friends, and students. His attitude is remarkably positive and he doesn't let anyone feel sorry for him- he's just too upbeat for that and the book very rarely gets sappy at all. THe book is comprised of short snippets of things that happened in his life and the lessons he learned along with some advice on focusing on the important things in life regardless of the time you've got left.
