The first half of the book progressed slowly and I admit that I was less than fond of the characters. However, once Emerson's capture, I really started to enjoy it and finished the last half within twelve hours, as opposed to the few days it took me to read the first half.

I really must read the rest of the books. I find I don't wish to read the former, since once you drop in in the middle it is hard to go back. Mom said that it would be scary, and I looked forward to it. A wonderful story (although I could have done without a great deal of the primary source documents), but I didn't find it scary. Oh well. I loved the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency (even if they're only last resort reading), so I picked this up. And it did occupy me, but I'm seriously lacking a book to get my teeth into.

I found this book boring. The characters were boring and 2 Dimensional, the dialogue (mostly internal philospophical musings) was boring, the crime was boring, the insider-trading nearly had me asleep in the bath, and the solution was a let down.
