_Extemely Loud and Incredibly Close_ is, in a way, the anti-Rashomon. Foer's characters have lived through WWII and 911. Tho' they perceive events similarly, they're inconsolable and lonely because of their grief. Because the subject matter is so emotional, it's the most difficult book I've ever read, but worthwhile.
