Another great book by the author of "The Tipping Point." An interesting theory to better understand some of the things that you (or others) do and think without really knowing why. The power of snap judgement and intuition, gets you looking at others differently to better understand yourself and the society we live in....less

"Fascinating theory of how personal building blocks and minute changes can suddenly (and sometimes drastically) alter social events and fads. A little technical and redundant, but really gets you thinking about what really drives our society.

I started reading this right after 'Naked Economics', and for a minute I thought it was the same book, just written in a less-entertaining style. Very basic, but mainly drives at the heart of economic incentives. I read 1/4 of it and was disappointed in the lack of different ideas from 'Naked Economics' and 'Freakonomics.' ...less

"A great Byson book- entertaining writing style, very funny (and bizarre) experience of his attempt to hike the Appalachian trail in mid-life (and out of shape). Humorous and entertaining, made even better in my reading it as a NC resident.

A disappointing Bryson book. After 'A walk in the woods", I had high expectations, only to be disappointed. Actually a compilation of weekly newspaper columns written while living in NH after 20 years in England, it ends up being a series of repetitive complaints of the neuances of life in the U.S. I plowed through it since it was a quick read, but not worth the time....less

A quick entertaining read. Written by Zach Braff's (of TV's Scrub's) brother, it's a very 'Garden State' style story from the inner thoughts of a young Jewish boy growing up in a dysfunctional family. Sounds disturbing, but really humorous and fun- supporting your own game of "the unthinkable." ...less

A classic historical fiction novel (orignally published in the '70s) uses an entertaining story to provide a better global understanding of the establishment of the Jewish state. While definitely pro-Jewish, the story gives background to better understand the ongoing Israeli-Palistinian (or broader, the East vs. West) conflict. Slow at the beginning, but once you get into the story its definitely worth the time commitment....less

An entertaining book using basic economic priciples and the power of incentives to better understand some of the quirks of every day life. Touching on some potentially difficut topics (linking abortion to crime, the effect of racial names on employment/discrimination, etc.), Leavitt's tounge-in-cheek style of writing gets you to think of everyday issues from a different viewpoint. A must read....less
