I think this is the version I'm reading on my husband's kindle! The language is pretty archaic. Lots of Latin! Update: Finally finished this! I read it along with an audio version I got out of the library. Maybe it was the narrator's reading voice, which was excellent,but the translation of the audio book was more appealing than this translation. I am probably speaking from the depths of my ignorance about such things but I don't understand why Lattimore is so revered! Some of his awkward phrasing actually made me giggle in comparison with the audio version we had. And I can't even say who translated the version we listened to because the library cover doesn't say!!!!!!

I found this book fascinating in the way it ties together many events in Ancient history. I have been wondering what my 14 year old could write about in his study of Ancient history. I think this book will make a great paper topic.
