I truly enjoyed reading each of the stories in this anthology. While certain works stood out from the others (“Ants” by Tad Williams, “The Wrong Room” by R.L. Stine, “A Haunted House of Her Own” by Kelley Armstrong, and “Benchwarmer” by Mike Resnick and Lezli Robyn), all of the stories definitely capture the spirit of The Twilight Zone. It is very easy to imagine each of these works as an actual episode of the show. The anthology also ends on a fitting note – with a previously unpublished work written by Rod Serling himself. All in all, this book is a wonderful celebration of fifty years of the Twilight Zone! ]]>

Lisa Lutz’s The Spellman Files introduces readers to Izzy Spellman, the funnier, more engaging, and certainly more likeable version of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum. The Spellman family is full of private investigators so not only do they spy on other people, but they are constantly keeping tabs on each other. Their blatant disregard for each other’s privacy creates an interesting (and often humorous) family dynamic.
Lutz’s first novel in her series is funny and includes several different mysteries that keep the reader wondering what is going to happen next. The book has short chapters and moves quickly and can easily be read in one or two days.
