Another enjoyable book from Diane Ackerman. Her writing, as always, is superb.

I am surprised when I read another book about WWII and realize how little I know. This nonfiction book is set in Warsaw and she really gives the reader a sense of what life was like for Jews and those who resisted.

The wonderful writing about the relationships among the humans and the animals makes you wish you could keep a badger around the house or at least that you could have that kind of communication with an animal!
