While I was quite excited by the amusing premise of this book - a retelling of Pride and Prejudice with zombie action - I discovered that I am too much of an Austen fan and historical purist to be able to really enjoy it. Perhaps I would have enjoyed this idea more if it was based on a book I didn't love so much?

Moby Dick with zombie whales, anyone?

I read this right after reading Austenland, which was quite enjoyable and light. This one I enjoyed also. As a compliment - this was a library book and I contemplated buying a copy. The premise of the book is interesting and the plot also takes the reader to important places in Austen's life. Highly recommended.

I've read other books by this author with his Matthew Shardlake character. The books are set during the reign of Henry VIII and one thing that I've really enjoyed is that the mysteries being solved are all related to political events current at the time. The main characters are changing as time passes in the novels - politically and emotionally - and the political events also move forward. Henry VIII is a looming (ha ha) presence in the book even though not directly involved in the story and he's on wife number 5. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This is the second book in a trilogy. I highly recommend the set - intelligent, believable characters, interesting plot. It's also being told in reverse chronological order - the first book is set in the current day, the second book is in the 70s and the third even earlier. As we read, we learn how events in the future were influenced by events in the past. Very well written also.

My reading queue is heavily dependent on which book is due first at the library. This is the second book by the author that I've read - pure fluff.

Enjoyed this light book. Since most of my reading is at night or while I'm getting ready for work, this was fun light reading. I've been getting library books that could be described as "psychic mysteries", pure fluff and somewhat chic lit-ish but also fun.

Just finished this library book. Interesting story, interesting characters. It's set in the 1300s in Yorkshire. I'll probably watch for more by this author - I'm interested to read what the main character does next.
